Biology Challenge

The Biology Challenge competition is designed to enable pupils from all types of schools to enjoy taking part and for as many as possible to be rewarded for their participation.

Intermediate Biology Olympiad

The Intermediate Biology Olympiad challenges students’ biology knowledge and encourages them to continue studying the biosciences beyond school/college.

British Biology Olympiad

The British Biology Olympiad is a competition to reward the best young biologists in the country. The Royal Society of Biology supports a team of dedicated volunteers who organise the competition.

CREST Awards

The Royal Society of Biology supports the National Science and Engineering Competitionfor 11-18 year olds who have completed a CREST project in science, engineering or maths.

SET Awards

The Royal Society of Biology supports and judges the Best Biology Student category of the SET Awards, Europe’s top important awards for science and engineering undergraduate students.

The Royal Society of Biology Prize

We support The Big Bang Fair through sponsorship of the bioscience disciplinary Crest Award. This prize is awarded to the individual that produces the best project in the biological sciences. The winner receives £500, a certificate and an experience prize.

Top Bioscience Award

We recognise the achievements of outstanding undergraduate biology students by awarding the Top Bioscience Student Award to the student with the highest overall grade in a bioscience subject. Contact us for more information.

Competition for teachers

Primary Bioscience Teacher of the Year Award

The Royal Society of Biology is pleased to announce its endorsement and support of the AstraZeneca Science Teaching Trust Awards for primary science teachers. Hence, a new category of AZSTT Primary Science Award, known as the Royal Society of Biology Award.

Secondary school Biology Teacher of the Year Award (11-18 category)

This Royal Society of Biology award, sponsored by Oxford University Press in conjunction with UK 3B Scientific Ltd and the National Science Learning Centre, aims to recognise the very best and most inspiring teachers.

HE Bioscience Teacher of the Year Award

This teacher of the year award seeks to identify the UK’s leading bioscience university teachers recognising the invaluable role played by Teachers in Higher Education. The competition is open to all employed bioscience teachers in the UK higher education system and individuals can be nominated either by self, peer or management nomination using the quick nomination form.
